The Clinical Effect of Nicorandil on Angina Pectoris

Abstract
Anti-anginal effect of, nicorandil was evaluated in 30 patients (20 male and 10 female age range 35~80) with ischemic heart disease (18 patients with effort angina, 9 patients with effort & rest angina, 2 patients with rest angina & one patients with variant angina). Nicorandil was give in a daily dose of 15mg~30mg divided into 3 dose for a period of 4 weeks.
The profiles for observation were symptom, complex, the frequency of anginal attack, ECG changes, electrolyte and laboratory data change, & adverse drug reactions before & after medication.
The following results were obtained & evaluated:
1) The pulse rate & systolic & diastolic blood pressure were decreased slightly. The decreases were not significant in statistical meanings.
2) Improvement in ECG changes was observed in 47% of nicorandil group.
3) Antianginal effect of the drug were excellent in 33%, good in 47%, fair in 20% and so the rate of global improvement was 80% with nicorandil.
4) Laboratory examinations revealed no abnormal finding indicative of clinical significance.
5) Adverse side-effects such as headache and facial flushings were observed in 3 patients.
6) The results indicate that the antianginal effect were superior in effort & rest angina pectoris.
